UDI Saturday Sketch Challenge #173

Happy Saturday!   Here is the sketch for today's UDI Sketch Challenge.  Thanks, Tammy, for a month of great ones!

Here's what I created.  The card base is Pear Pizzazz.  I used the yummy SAB DSP, Everyday Enchantment, for the top layer and the flower image.  ;)  The top layer is a little wonkier than the sketch.  What can I say?  LOL  The sentiment is from Apothecary Art in the Occasions mini, and I cut it and the layer behind it out with the Labels Framelits.  LOVE them!  Both layers of Poppy Parade were run through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice embossing folder for some texture.

Saturday Sketch Challenge #172

Are you ready for another UDI Saturday Sketch Challenge?  Ready or not, here's Tammy's sketch!  :)  Believe it or not, I didn't mean to flip the sketch this week.  I just went from memory which doesn't really work out all the time.  LOL  

Here's my card.  I got my color inspiration from this week's UDI Color Challenge.  I used Basic Grey for the card base.  The focal layer is Whisper White.  I punched out lots of little hearts with the Heart to Heart punch in Regal Rose and Rose Red and glued them to the Whisper White layer with my glue stick.  Then I ran the piece through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice embossing folder.  I cut off the parts of the hearts that were hanging off the edges and adhered it to a piece of Basic Black.  The  larger Rose Red heart was die-cut with the Fashionable Hearts embosslit and adhered with a dimensional.  The sentiment is from an upcoming SAB set, Outlined Occasions.  I colored it in with my markers.

A Valentine's Day CASE

Happy Sunday morning!  Here is the Valentine card I didn't make yesterday.  LOL  It's a complete CASE of Kris Kilcoyne's card here.  She CASEd Kristina Werner who has a video tutorial here.  It was so fun and easy with Stampin' Up!'s new Framelits!

I used the same DSP from yesterday and Crumb Cake for the card base.  I used Crumb Cake ink to sponge all the edges.  I love that look!  I used the smallest heart framelit so there would be more room for writing on the inside, but the next larger one would work, too.  If you click on the picture you can see where the framelit also embossed around the cut-out.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and fits perfectly on the side panel.  I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line it up just so.  :)

Saturday Sketch Challenge

Happy Saturday!  It's time for another sketch challenge on the UDI blog.  Tammy gave us another great sketch to work with today.  I was all ready to make a Valentine card, but then I changed my mind.  LOL  I decided to go with an all-occasion card instead.  Here's the sketch.  See...Valentine's Day.  :) 

I decided to use butterflies instead of hearts and could only fit 3 instead of 4.  I also left off the sentiment of love.  The card base and the butterflies are Poppy Parade.  I stamped the scrap cardstock with the SAB set, Fresh Vintage, before I punched out the butterflies.  I sponged them with Crumb Cake ink and curled their wings with my bone folder.  I put a bit of bling on their bodies with Basic Jewels rhinestones.  The DSP is another peek at some SAB product called Everyday Enchantment.  I sponged the card base with Crumb Cake ink to match the DSP, and I used Crumb Cake seam binding to finish off the card.

A Simple Valentine

It just may be too simple.  I'm making a Valentine card with a 5th grade class, and  I want to keep it simple since I only have an hour, but they are such good kids that I think I can step it up a bit.  I did a Thanksgiving card with them, and they were great.  They used the Big Shot to emboss, and they asked to see what else it could do.  I told them we'd do some cutting this time.  :)  I'll have to start fresh and see what I else I can create. Maybe something with more hearts...the Fashionable Hearts embosslit is fun!  Maybe even some kind of treat box.  I'll have to get with their teacher and see what else they're doing that day. 

Anyway, here is the card.

Saturday Sketch Challenge

Happy Saturday!  It's a new month, and that means a new sketch artist!  Tammy is providing the sketches for us this month!  Here is her first one for January.  I flipped it on its side.  

My nephew's 1st birthday was yesterday.  We'll be heading out for his first party this afternoon, and this is his card.  My kiddos loved Elmo and Sesame Street when they were little ones, so Ethan is getting some Sesame Street board books and an Elmo's World DVD collection.  I cruised the SCS gallery for punch art ideas for a matching card.  My characters are a combination of the ideas I found.  I sponged each of them for some depth and popped them up on dimensionals.   I used ribbon for the stitching and the characters for the 3 images.  I die-cut a glittery number one for the sentiment spot, and then I added a birthday sentiment from Curly Cute.

Holiday Mini is coming to an end!

Good Monday Morning!  It's off to school and work for us here today.  There's quite an uproar around here because of the kids going back to school on a holiday.  I have to work, too, so it's not really a big deal to me.  :(

Happy 2012!

Happy 2012!  One of my resolutions is to post to my blog more.  I'd like to post every day, but I'm going to take baby steps.  :)

Today's post features some gift card holders I made for my kiddos for Christmas.  They were so easy to make.  Five of them took me about an hour.  I started with a piece of card stock that measured 4 1/4" x 10".  Score it at 3", 4", 5" and 8".  I rounded the corners on mine for a more finished look.  I used sticky strip on the inside holder and then just trimmed a smidgen off the top.  That way it can be used for different sized gift cards. (You can click on the small pic for a closer look at the inside.)  I used a piece of ribbon to keep mine closed, but you could also use a card stock belly band or even a magnet or velcro dot. I used Lovely Letters and punches to make monograms to decorate the front and cover the seam of the ribbons. 

I hope you enjoy the first day of 2012!  We're heading out to the mall later today to buy my daughter some khaki pants for school.  (I wish they could just wear jeans when it's cold. So much easier to find jeans she likes.  LOL)  It is supposed to be in the 30s for lows this week!  YIKES! Today is still in the 70s, though.  Florida winters...love 'em!
