Good morning!  Today's post is a card I created for the LateNightStampers Challenge #42.  It was a color challenge...Old Olive, Really Rust and Ruby Red.  I also wanted a sample for my workshop this past Sunday to show different ways to use the Top Note die and Ornament punch.  The image panel and the outer edge of the Top Note square is sponged with the shimmer paint.  I couldn't get a good picture of the shimmer.  It is really pretty IRL.  :)

Petals-a-Plenty Christmas tree

Good Saturday morning!

Today's card was made using the fabulous Patty Bennett's embossing folder trick.  I cut out a triangle shape using some cardboard packaging I saved from Make-n-Takes at Convention 2008.  I knew I would need it for something.  LOL  One sheet didn't work, so I cut out another triangle and glued the 2 of them together.   That worked perfectly.   I used Shimmery White cardstock and rubbed some Champagne Mist shimmer paint all over the tree.  Then I colored the berries with Real Red.  The star at the top of the tree is punched from YoYo Yellow and also sponged with Champagne Mist shimmer paint then adhered with a dimensional.  This card is so sparkly IRL.  The sentiment is from Four the Holidays and is stamped on Shimmery White in Real Red.  A piece of Soft Suede polka-dot ribbon (I love this ribbon!) finishes off the card.

UDI Inspiration Challenge

It's Thursday!  Time for another UDI Inspiration Challenge!  Today's inspiration picture is "Starry Night" by Vincent Van Gogh.

I used one of my all-time favorite techniques for this one.  Polished Stone with Night of Navy, Ballet Blue and Bordering Blue was done on Glossy White cardstock after I did the same technique with just So Saffron.  I wanted to get some of the "glow", but I had to do the yellow first or it would have turned out green.  I was paying attention in art class all those years ago!  LOL  The moon is a 1" circle colored with Versamarker and So Saffron and embossed with Clear EP.  The grass from Inspired by Nature is stamped in Versamark and embossed with Black EP.  The Van Gogh quote is stamped in Jet Black Stazon on Whisper White.  I sponged some Night of Navy ink all over the sentiment layer.  The image layer is adhered to Whisper White and a Night of Navy card base.  I used some Basic Black 5/8" grosgrain to finish off the card.

Happy Holidays Top Note

Good Sunday morning!  I think some of you northerners must have sent your winter weather down here to Florida!  It was 47 degrees here this morning!  YIKES!  I am not ready for this!  I will be going clothes shopping later today.  My poor kiddos don't have any jackets.  They outgrew last year's already!  Thank goodness it'll be back in the 80s on Tuesday!  :)

Today's card is going to be the make-n-take at Terry's workshop next weekend.  I used the sketch challenge over on the UDI blog for my layout.  Well, I started out with the sketch, but I adjusted it just a bit.  LOL  I flipped it so that my ornaments are on the right side of the card, and I added the Top Note as a layer.  I want to work the Big Shot in so everyone can use it and just have to have it...or at least the Top Note die! :)   I'll show the different shapes you can make with it.  (You can find the a video tutorial on Kimberly's blog.) I'm also going to show other uses for the Ornament punch...an acorn, a fish, a vase, etc..  Those 2  are definitely  must-haves!   I am so excited!  I haven't done a workshop at someone else's house in a very long time.  I'm also nervous.  I sure hope I don't forget something!  LOL

Bermuda Bay Christmas

Happy Friday! 

Today's card uses some non-traditional colors for Christmas.  I just love Bermuda Bay and Soft Suede together.  The card base is Soft Suede.  The DSP is from the Holiday Mini pack, Christmas Cocoa.  It has a wonderful metallic sheen to it IRL.  The ribbon is the Soft Suede Polka Dot just turned over to the other side.  It's 2 ribbons in 1!  :)  The sentiment from Four the Holidays is stamped in Whisper White Craft and embossed with White EP. Dasher is stamped in Soft Suede and then stamped again with Champagne Shimmer Paint.   I used my SAMJ to get the 2nd image slightly off from the first one.  It really is beautifully shimmery IRL.  (You can click on the picture for a better view.)

Inspiration Challenge 65

It's Inspiration Thursday over on the UDI blog today.  Make sure you head on over there to see what the rest of the team came up with from today's picture.

When I saw today's picture, I immediately thought of Will Turner.  Yum!  LOL  His wife's name is Elizabeth...

Anyway, back on track.  I don't have any skeleton stamps.  (I know...From the Crypt would have been perfect for this one!)  I did want the skull to be the main focal image.  I decided to use one from the Cast a Spell DSP.  I punched it out with my 1 3/8" Square punch and then roughed up all the edges.  It's layered on a Perfect Plum square, a Basic Black Scalloped Square (made from the SU! exclusive Scalloped Square die...you can make smaller squares and even rectangles with it...it's a must-have!), and then an Old Olive square.  I ran the Old Olive piece through my crimper both ways, but I didn't close it all the way.  It's just a slight bit of texture.   The sentiment from Holiday Best (Level 1 Hostess set) is stamped in Jet Black Stazon on Whisper White and mounted on Basic Black.  The card base is Perfect Plum.  That's it.  A simple, fun card.

Delightful CASE

Hello!  Today's card is a CASE of Robin Merriman's Stamping 411 card.  I thought it was absolutely gorgeous, and I had to make one of my own.  You can see hers here.  I changed the colors and that's about it.  ;)

 I used Night of Navy for the card base and Brushed Silver and Shimmery White for the layers. The ornaments are stamped in Night of Navy Classic ink.  I colored them with my Versamarker and embossed them with Iridescent Ice before punching them out with the Ornament punch.  One is glued  and one is adhered with dimensionals.  I used Silver elastic cord for the hangers.  The snowflakes are stamped with Platinum Shimmer Paint and embellished with a Silver brad.  The sentiment is stamped in Night of Navy.  The picture does not do this card justice.  It is so sparkly in person.

Halloween Treats

Happy Monday!  Yeah, right!  LOL

I have some Halloween treat ideas to share today.  Two of them are made with the Sizzix Petal card die.  One is made using the Sweet Treats cups.  All of them contain candy!  Yum!  LOL

The box is made with 4 petal cards.  I'm not sure who came up with this, but it's brilliant!  The DSP is Cast a Spell and the stamped image is from Holiday Best, a Level 1 hostess set.  (Want this set for free?  Hostess a workshop!  Call me to set a date!)  The treat holder is also a petal card.   Fold up 3 of the flaps, decorate with DSP and some ribbon, and stick a piece of candy in it. Embrace Life!

Happy Sunday!  I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

Today's card is one I made with the Ribbon of Hope stamp.  This is a single stamp from Stampin' Up! and is only $7.95.  I will be donating 10% of the purchase price of this and many other products to the Susan G. Komen Foundation during the month of October.  To see the flyer, click here.

The layout of today's card is from a previous CAS challenge on SCS.  The ribbon is stamped on Whisper White in Pretty in Pink.  The DSP is from a specialty pack called Bride.  It's all white with white embossing when you purchase it.  I sponged Pretty in Pink all over the DSP.  The embossing resists the ink, and the paper is completely transformed.   You can have this DSP in every color!  How fabulous is that?   :)  The bottom layer of cardstock and the taffeta ribbon are both Basic Gray.  The sentiment is from the stamp set Embrace Life.  It's stamped on the Pretty in Pink card base in Jet Black Stazon.  The top corners of the image piece are paper-pierced using the Mat Pack.

UDI Inspiration Challenge 64

Happy Thursday!  Are you excited to be one day closer to the weekend? 

I took inspiration from the pumpkins in today's picture.  I created a Halloween treat box with a pumpkin as the centerpiece.  :)

Here's how I made it! 

1. Using the Big Shot and Fancy Favor die, cut out a box.  Apply adhesive to the side strip and the bottom strips.  Assemble the box. 

2. Use the leftover strip from the cutout as your handle.  Cut at desired length.  Adhere handle to box. 

3. Stamp pumpkin on Whisper White and punch with 1” Circle punch.  Layer on Old Olive 1 ¼” Circle, 1 3/8” Pumpkin Pie circle and Perfect Plum Scalloped Circle.  Punch a hole with your hand-held punch in the top of the circle. 

4. Adhere Cast a Spell DSP to Old Olive card stock.  Tie a piece of Elegant Eggplant ribbon around the layers.   Adhere layered card stock to front of box.  

5. Using Silver Elastic cord, attach image to ribbon.  Leave hanging or adhere to box in desired position.

Crazy for cupcakes

Hello!  Today's card was made for a co-worker's birthday.  I used the layout from page 63 of the Idea Book & Catalog.  That book is just full of wonderful projects, layouts, color schemes and more!

My card is a 6X6 piece of So Saffron cardstock folded in half.  I used the small polka-dot Texturz plate on the front of it.  The DSP is Razzleberry Lemonade.  The image is colored with a blender pen and markers.  The cherries are covered in Crystal Effects, and the frosting is covered in Dazzling Diamonds.  I painted the cupcake tray with a blender pen and Platinum shimmer paint.  It's so shiny and sparkly IRL.  :)  The sentiment is from All Holidays.  I adhered 2 pieces of Melon Mambo cardstock to the Whisper White and made a banner.  It's adhered to the card with dimensionals.

In Memory of Sylvia...

and all those who have been lost to Breast Cancer.

Sylvia was the mother of a 6-week old daughter when she discovered a lump in October of 1982.  Sylvia had a mastectomy and all the treatments that went with it.  She seemed to have won her battle although she was told she couldn't have any more babies.  She went on to have another daughter in 1984.  The cancer returned many times, and she battled it for many, many years.  She was even in the news as she received experimental treatments and used "new technology" to speak to her daughters at home via computer from the hospital.  Unfortunately, Sylvia lost her battle to Breast Cancer on January 11, 2001. She was just 45 years old.  Breast Cancer left my 2 young sisters motherless at just 18 and almost 16...so young and fragile.  They both dealt with their loss in different ways, but they have become wonderful young women.  They are now 27 and 25.  Michelle is the older sister and is the mother of 2.  Stephanie is the younger sister and is participating in the 3-Day Walk for a Cure later this month. I am very proud of both of them! 

In memory of their mom, and since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I wanted to do my part to help find a cure. I will be donating 10% of the purchase price of anything pink (even if it isn't pictured on the flyer!) purchased from me during the month of October to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

UDI Sketch Challenge

Good morning!  I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!

I had a chance to create last night.  I used the sketch over on UDI for this Christmas card.  I finally cut into my beautiful flocked DSP.  It's called Christmas Cocoa, and it's available in the Holiday Mini.  The ornament image is also available in the Holiday Mini.  The set is called Delightful Decorations.  There is a matching punch, wheel and rub-ons as well.  :)  I used the Ticket Corner punch on the image panel.  There are Dazzling Diamonds on the middle of the ornament.  It's adhered to the card with dimensionals.  I used a slide from the Hodgepodge Hardware to dress up my ribbon.  The sentiment is from Warm Words and is punched out with the Small Oval punch.  I distressed the oval and colored the edges with Real Red before adhering it to the DSP panel.

Inspiration Challenge 63

Happy Thursday!  The "cold" front came through yesterday.  The humidity is gone, and it is so nice outside.  It was in the 60s yesterday morning.  Brrr!  Don't laugh...if it's below 70, I am cold!!   It was the perfect fall day, and a perfect day to make a fall card.  The picture for today's UDI Inspiration Challenge is gorgeous.  I was going to use Lovely as a Tree, but had a change of heart at the last minute.  Mr. Brown brought me a box yesterday, and I decided to ink up a brand new stamp set, Falling Leaves.  I inked up each leaf in a different color.  I used Old Olive, Really Rust, Elegant Eggplant and More Mustard.  The sentiment is stamped in Old Olive directly on the Summer Sun card base.  I used my mat pack and paper piercer to make the line on either side of the sentiment.  A piece of Elegant Eggplant finishes off the card.  I really like the end result.  It's such a fun card.
