Roof Garden card set

Happy Friday!

I have seen these card sets all over these days. I figured it was high time I made a set myself. ;) I used Barb's cards as a template and made a few changes since I don't have all the same supplies. It was really fun just to peel and stick. LOL I have enough Roof Garden Accents & Elements left to make at least 10 more cards. Once I use up the goodies, I'll be left with a fabulous tin to alter! ;) I left my cards blank and will just add a sentiment as needed. Have you tried an Accents & Elements kit yet?

UDI Inspiration Challenge #15

Thursday again already! That means it's time for Inspiration Challenge #15. I think today's inspiration pic is too funny. I used the colors and the insect as inspiration. ;) To see the original challenge, visit the UDI blog!

I know these spiders are everywhere, but this was my first attempt. What fun!
The card base is Old Olive cardstock. I cut a strip of paper from last year's Halloween DSP, Creepy Crawly (how appropriate!), and layered it on a strip of Basic Black. I punched a small hole in the bottom of the strip and used Linen Thread to attach my spider. Isn't he just the cutest?! He's made from a Scalloped Circle punch, some Photo Corner punches and some circle punches. I didn't glue him to the card base, so he scampers all over the card when you pick it up. I just love him!

A Halloween Triangle Box

After seeing the tutorial for triangle boxes on SCS today, I just knew I had to try one! This was so easy to make, and it's much bigger than I was expecting. Beate's tutorial is fantastic as usual. You can see it here. I used Pumpkin Pie cardstock for my box. It is stamped with the Frankie stamp from Batty for You in Versamark. I used my Crop-a-dile to punch holes for the SU! Basic Black grosgrain that is holding it together. The front embellishment is a Basic Black Scalloped circle layered with a Pumpkin Pie 1 3/8" circle. Frankie is stamped on Whisper White with Jet Black Stazon and punched with the 1 1/4" circle punch. I stamped Frankie again on Whisper White in Old Olive and punched him out with the 1" circle punch. That piece is adhered with dimensionals. That's it. Give it a try!

Decor Elements Phase 2

This adorable little jar started life as a nursery item. It came in a set of 3 and used to have bright balloons on the front of it. They sat on my son's dresser when he was a baby and held cotton balls and q-tips and other tiny things. I found them the other day when we cleaned out his closet. (I know...I'm a pack rat! LOL)I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them. Tonight, I finally got around to it. I took the balloons off the front of the jar with nail polish remover. After it was clean and dry, I applied a Decor Elements flower on it. The flower is Rose Red and measures 2" X 2". It is part of the Ginormous Flowers set in the Phase 2 brochure. Rolling Marbles and an Ornament

Today's card uses a technique called Rolling Marbles. You can find a tutorial here. It is so easy and a lot of fun. This was my first attempt, and I love the way it looks. I didn't want to cover it up, so I kept the card really simple. A piece of Riding Hood Red taffeta and a Punches Three ornament hanging by Linen thread finishes the card. I really like it. What do you think?

2 Challenges in 1

Happy Saturday! I hope you all are having a great weekend!

Today's card showcases Crazy for Cupcakes which is on sale until October 31st. Do you have your set yet? I used 2 SCS challenges for this one. The layout is SC199 and the colors are from CC189. The polka dot Chocolate Chip and the polka dot Kiwi Kiss are both from the Bella Rose DSP. The pink is Pink Pirouette. The Pink Pirouette has the party horn stamped in Versamark and embossed with Clear EP. Pretty in Pink taffeta ribbon and punched top corners finish off the card.

Instructions
Napkin ring: Make cardstock note using Top Note Bigz die. Adhere Designer Series paper on cardstock, stamp (on New Year's napkin ring), fold and smooth folds using bone folder. Stamp label image, punch out and/or cut and adhere to napkin ring. Punch out slots and tie together with ribbon (Note: New Year's napkin ring is tied together with Silver elastic cord). Accent as shown.

Name plate: Make cardstock note using Top Note Bigz die; stamp (on New Year's name plate), fold in half and smooth fold with bone folder. Adhere Designer Series paper on cardstock (Note: layer paper on Old Olive cardstock first for Christmas name plate). Accent as shown.

Favor: Make favor box using Pillow Box die and fill with treats. Create belly-band out of Designer Series paper (Note: layer paper for New Year's favor) and adhere to favor. Stamp label image and punch out. Adhere label and accent as shown.

Confetti: Make several large and small scallop circles out of Designer Series paper. Stamp and cut out/punch smaller images (acorns for Thanksgiving, trees for Christmas, and snowflakes for New Year's) as shown. Glue glitter on snowflakes.

UDI Inspiration Challenge #14

I can't believe we're on Week 14 of the Inspiration Challenges. I went back and checked my pictures just to be sure. Time sure flies.

I knew what I wanted to do for this week's card as soon as I saw the inspiration picture. It just looked cold to me. I used my favorite technique, Polished Stone, for the background piece. I used Bashful Blue and Brilliant Blue reinkers. I stamped all the snowflakes from Snow Swirled on the background with Whisper White craft ink and embossed with White EP. The greeting is done the same way. The background piece is layered on Whisper White and Brilliant Blue. The card base is Bashful Blue. Whisper White taffeta ribbon is the finishing touch. I am really pleased with the finished card.

A Christmas Ornament

Hello! I hope you all had a terrific weekend! Mine was busy, busy! Saturday we drove up to Downtown Disney in Orlando. T-Rex opened this week, and we just had to go! It's a restaurant just like Rainforest Cafe' only with dinosaurs. It was very cool. We wandered around the Marketplace while we waited for the HUGE line to disappear. After lunch, we wandered some more. We arrived back home about 5:30 pm. We had just enough time to change and get back on the road. We had tickets to the Lightning game. I don't know all the rules of hockey, so I just tried to keep up with the puck. LOL We lost in a shoot-out. When we got home, we watched the end of the Rays game. We lost that one, too. All day Sunday, we cleaned my son's room. I vowed to change my pack-rat ways yesterday. We didn't finish his room until 5 p.m. His closet had boxes of baby clothes and toys buried under everything else. OMWord. What a mess. LOL We have lots of stuff for a garage sale. We just need to go through my daughter's room now. Yikes! After cleaning all day, we had dinner and sat down to relax in front of the television. Did I say relax? NOT! The Rays game was on...THE GAME! Game 7. What a nail-biter! In the end, the Rays came out on top, and we're going to the WORLD SERIES! WooHoo! (The Bucs won, too, by the way! LOL)

Robert came home tonight with a "ray"hawk! I like it! ;)

Is this post titled "A Christmas Ornament"? I guess you might like to see one, huh? Well, here it is! I used a lightweight coaster covered in Always Artichoke Patterns DSP (Level 1 hostess). I just adhered the paper with a SU! glue stick. I colored a Scalloped Square from the On Board Essentials chipboard package with my Always Artichoke marker. I covered it with my 2-way glue pen and poured on the Dazzling Diamonds. The deer is stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock in Chocolate Chip. His nose is Real Red. He and the scalloped square are adhered to the coaster. I punched a hole in the coaster with my crop-a-dile and tied some Very Vanilla taffeta ribbon through it. It's all ready to hang on our tree.

UDI Inspiration Challenge 13

This is my creation for the Inspiration Challenge Maria posted on the UDI blog. I chose to use the color scheme and flowers as inspiration today. The card base is a Fresh Cut notecard. I stamped the main image from the Fresh Cuts stamp set onto the card in Black Stazon and then removed the petals from the card. I adhered a Regal Rose 5-petal flower and a So Saffron 1/2" circle to the center with a Fire Circle Rhinestone brad. I then scalloped the bottom edge of the notecard and adhered a piece of So Saffron cardstock to the inside. I wrapped a piece of the new So Saffron 7/8" grosgrain (scrumptious!) around the top and tied a knot. What do you think?

A Thanks Box

Where did the weekend go? I can't believe how fast the time flies. I was browsing some blogs earlier today and found this adorable box on Angie's blog. I made a box at Convention as a make-n-take that was pretty similar. I decided to alter my Convention box by adding the top like Angie's. I changed the top up just a bit. I didn't scallop both edges, and I didn't seal it from both sides so it doesn't have to be ruined when it's opened. The ribbon can just be untied.

Here are the directions. Cut your cardstock or DSP to 9 1/2" X 6". Score parallel to the 9 1/2" side at 1" on each side. Score the shorter side at 4" and 5 1/2". Cut your score lines at 4" and 5 1/2" from the edge to the 1" score line on both sides. Now you should have 3 "flaps" on each side. Fold the scores and assemble your box using Sticky Strip or another strong adhesive. Now push in the top sides and crease them. Cut a piece of coordinating cardstock or DSP to 3" X 4". Score longways at 1 1/4". Scallop the wider section using the Scallop Edge punch. Put a line of Sticky Strip or another strong adhesive along the non-scalloped edge. Punch holes using rectangular hole punch in either side of top piece. Thread ribbon through holes. Adhere topper to box. Tie ribbon around front to close after you fill it with goodies, of course. :) Embellish front of box as you wish. Give it to someone. You'll make their day a little sweeter. Isn't that what it's all about?

WICKED Christmas

I hope you are having a terrific weekend so far! I wanted to participate in the WICKED challenge over at SCS this month, and I hadn't done it yet. Today was the day. ;) It's a demo only challenge so the link will only work if you're a registered demo on SCS. The challenge I chose to do tonight is the color challenge...Kraft, Riding Hood Red and Always Artichoke. Whisper White was also in there, but I used watercolor paper instead. It's still a neutral, right? LOL My card base is Kraft cardstock. Then there is a strip of Always Artichoke Patterns DSP (hostess level 1) on a layer of Riding Hood Red. My jolly Santa is stamped with Versamark on watercolor paper and embossed in black. I colored him with blender pens and reinkers, markers and my retired Zig Painty pen. I covered the snow and the ground with my 2-way glue pen and clear chunky glitter. The watercolor paper is layered on Always Artichoke cardstock and adhered on top of a piece of Riding Hood Red taffeta. This ribbon is gorgeous IRL! I really like the way this card turned out. It's a nice simple design and can be mass-produced pretty easily. It's not bulky, either, so it wouldn't need extra postage. I see more of these in my future. ;) What do you think?

A Demo Challenge

Happy Friday! WooHoo! The weekend is here!

I decided to play along with today's demo challenge over on SCS. (The link will only work if you're a registered demo on SCS.) The challenge was to make a book from one piece of paper using the fabulous JanTink's tutorial. (This link will work for anyone!)

For my book, I used the bottom diagram. The inside of the book is a 12X12 piece of Whisper White cardstock. The cover is Old Olive cardstock and Juntos DSP. (This DSP is available in the spanish catalog.) The sentiment is from the Hostess Level 1 set, Best Yet. It's stamped in Old Olive classic ink on Whisper White cardstock then layered on Juntos DSP then Old Olive cardstock. I think I may make a few more for my daughter and her friends. That way they can put their school pictures in them and sign their names or something.

Supplies(all SU!): Stamps- Best Yet (Level 1 Hostess). Paper- Whisper White, Old Olive, Juntos DSP. Ink- Old Olive. Accessories- 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" square punches.

A baby card in the round!

I just found out that a cousin is expecting her 2nd child. Her first is 6 years old. She was expecting a girl right up until she delivered a boy! What a surprise! She is only a couple months along now, so she has no idea what to expect, but I'm sending her this card. It's just to congratulate her, so I made it pink and girly because she's a girl! LOL I put a "b" on it for today's Ways to Use It challenge for monogram cards. It's also an entry into Ann's GCA challenge to make anything but a standard-sized card. I made this one with the Scallop Circle and Scallop Circle #2 dies.

The base is Whisper White. The circles are Pink Pirouette and Whisper White. The "b" is from the letters I received in my make-n-take pack at Convention, and I can't remember the name of the set. I covered the letter with my 2-way glue pen and dumped on the Chunky Glitter in silver. How sparkly! To finish it, I tied some Whisper White taffeta around the top, and then tied some Pretty in Pink taffeta onto the white piece. That's it. Really simple.

UDI Inspiration Challenge #12

It's Inspiration Challenge time again! You can find Maria's sample here at the UDI blog. I chose to use the colors for my inspiration. I saw Real Red, Old Olive, Very Vanilla and Gold. Those colors just scream Christmas to me, so that's the way I went. I used SC197 for my layout.

My card base is Very Vanilla. From largest to smallest, the layers are Real Red, Dashing DSP, Real Red, Dashing DSP, Real Red and Very Vanilla. The sentiment from Heard from the Heart is stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with Gold EP. Real Red and Old Olive 1/4" grosgrain is tied around the top for the finishing touch.

Pizza anyone?

For today's post, I combined yesterday's Try a New Technique challenge and today's Color challenge. The result...a Tangerine Tango, Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss pizza box! How fun!

I followed Jen Del Muro's directions which can be found in the challenge thread. I used Tangerine Tango for the base of the box. The top is layered with Chocolate Chip and a piece of Kiwi Kiss polka dots from my package of Bella Rose DSP. I covered a chipboard scallop square with Chocolate Chip and glued a piece of Tangerine Tango to the bottom of it. I stamped the large flower from Eastern Blooms on Tangerine Tango with versamark. I embossed it with White EP, and then cut it out. I added a pewter Build a Brad with a 3/4" circle of the same DSP on top in the middle of the square. I popped it up on 2 dimensionals so it would stand out more. I also glued a strip of Chocolate Chip cardstock around the top of the pizza box to finish it.

Fall is in the Air...

not here in Florida, but I've read about it on blogs! LOL

One of my UDI sisters shared a project with the group today. Aren't her pumpkins just the cutest thing? I just had to try some for myself. I made one with the Wide Oval Punch and one with the Large Oval Punch. There are 6 punched pieces for each one. I just folded them in half and glued them together. The stem is a sliver of cardstock I rolled around a pencil to curl and then stuck down in the middle of the ovals. I am thinking you can make an even smaller one with the Small Oval Punch and even bigger ones with the Coluzzle! I can't wait to try some more! Thanks for sharing your talent, Brenda!
