Party Hearty Monday

I needed to make a birthday card for a co-worker. I rummaged through my DSP and found some retired Cutie Pie. I took my colors from that. I inked up the cupcake from Party Hearty in Regal Rose and Close to Cocoa and stamped it on a piece of Whisper White. The candles are Bashful Blue and the flames are Pumpkin Pie. I stamped the frosting again, cut it out and popped it up on dimensionals. I layered the cupcake on a piece of retired Purely Pomegranate after I punched the top corners with the Scalloped Edge punch. Regal Rose wide grosgrain hides the seam between the Cutie Pie DSP and the So Saffron cardstock. That's it. Simple and cute. At least, I think so! ;)

Batty Weekend Sketch Challenge

Happy Saturday! I am so glad the weekend is finally here! What better way to start it than with stamping! O.k., so my weekend started hours and hours ago, and I'm almost finished with the laundry, but you know what I mean! :) I used Beate's WSC59 for my card. I am still using last year's Halloween DSP, Creepy Crawly. The stamp set is Batty for You. I just love it!

I made my own matching ribbon with some Whisper White taffeta and the Itty Bitty Backgrounds stamp set. You can never have too many polka dots, right? LOL

My Pumpkin Pie strips are 1 1/2" X 3 1/2". The DSP strips are 1 1/4" X 3 1/4". I used the Scallop Circle punch and the 1 3/8", 1 1/4" and the 1" circle punches for my spider. The scallop circle is on dimensionals as well as the spider's circle.

UDI Inspiration Challenge 10

Here is my submission for the 10th UDI Inspiration Challenge. Check out the challenge here.

I used the sketch and the colors from the inspiration piece for my card. I kept it pretty simple. Faux stitching was added with my Close to Cocoa marker. The tree is colored with a sponge dauber markered with Mellow Moss and Close to Cocoa.

Unfortunately, I made this card with someone in mind. Matt Bryant is the kicker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His 3-month old son passed away yesterday. The story is here. I can only imagine the pain they must be going through right now.

A Summer Picnic Sketch

A spooky story! (Not for the faint of heart!)

Ok...some of this is not stamping related. It's really spooky! My daughter spent about 30 minutes in the kitchen this evening rearranging all the junk on the fridge. Not 2 minutes after she walks out of the kitchen, her daddy walks in the kitchen. He hollers that there's a snake. I said, "Yeah, right." He is always trying to scare me. He comes running out of the kitchen, and, when I saw his face, I knew it was no joke. OMGosh! Talk about freaking out! After we got the dog in a bedroom, I told him to run get a shovel, and I would watch the snake. He didn't want to go through the laundry room to get to the garage to get a shovel. He would have had to run by the snake. I wasn't going to either. I ran out the front door and used the opener in my truck to open the garage. I grabbed an edger and ran back inside. Guess what?! I had to kill the snake! OMGosh! I was so freaked out! I was calling it names and screaming at it for being in my house. Did you know that you can cut a snake in half, and it will still move all around? *blech* We "think" that it must have come in through the garage and the laundry room. I'll be buying some new weatherstripping tomorrow. Now that the drama has died down somewhat...I'm still freaking out, and I'm not going to sleep tonight...I have a post to share with you.

It's another spooky story...but this is a good one! ; ) I finally found a candy jar for my Spooky Spider Decor Element. It was $6.97 at Super Wal-Mart. I had to cut off the bottom of its legs to fit the jar, but I still LOVE the way it looks! Now I need to go to BJ's (warehouse club) to fill it up with candy. I tied some Whisper White and Basic Black grosgrain around the top of the lid and slid a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock in the jar so the spider would be easier to see. The second picture is of Biscuit making sure she's not missing out on any doggie treats!

A glitter surprise!

I found a technique challenge over on SCS from last week called Glitter Surprise. You can check out the challenge here. I decided to give it a try tonight. I will be sparkling for the next week now! : )

I wanted to make a Christmas card, so I pulled out my Snow Swirled set. I checked out my glitters so I could find a close match to my cardstock. I chose the dark blue/green Cosmo Fine Glitter and Pacific Point cardstock. I used the large and small snowflakes for the background. I stamped them randomly in Versamark. I used Heat and Stick Powder and then poured on the glitter. The dog will probably be sparkling for the next week, too. LOL I used a blender pen and Pacific Point reinker to color the sentiment. I stamped it on Whisper White, then matted on Pacific Point and another piece of Whisper White. I used my craft knife to cut slits on either side of the sentiment and threaded Whisper White taffeta through them. What do you think? Is it sparkly enough?

A Card Collection

Today's project is a birthday gift for a friend from school. Our kids are in the same 5th grade class. I made simple but cute all-occasion cards for her. I didn't want them to be too bulky and cost her extra to mail. I'll give them to her at school tomorrow. I hope she likes them.

Party Hearty WSC

Happy Friday! Finally! WooHoo!

I needed to make a birthday card for a classmate of my daughter's. We're attending her pizza party in just a few minutes. Nothing like waiting until the last minute! I don't suppose any of you know anything about that? ; ) I checked out Beate's WSC and decided it was perfect! Aren't they always?! I flipped the sketch so I could put the sentiment from Heard from the Heart at the top. I used my retired Pretty in Pink Prints DSP for the background. It took me a while to figure out which punches to use to layer the cupcake, but I finally decided on some squares. LOL I embossed the frosting with Iridescent Ice and popped the cupcake up on dimensionals. The finishing touch was Whisper White grosgrain.

UDI Inspiration Challenge 9

It's time for another UDI Inspiration Challenge. I'm dedicating this card to Maria. She's a UDI sister of mine. She lives in Texas, and her home was badly damaged by Hurricane Ike. She is the UDI Inspiration Challenge coordinator, and it's her card that appears on the UDI blog on Thurdsdays. I want her to know I'm thinking of her and her family and all those who were affected by Hurricane Ike. Big hugs, Maria!

My card is very simple. The card base is Kraft cardstock. The top layer is Berry Bliss DSP (retired). I stamped the flowers from Eastern Blooms in Whisper White Craft Ink and daubered on some Pretty in Pink chalk. I stamped the sentiment from Best Yet (Hostess Level 1) in Chocolate Chip and punched it out with the Curly Label punch. I attached it with Pretty in Pink taffeta ribbon and a dimensional.

A Christmas Mosaic

I decided to watch some of my Workshop Wow DVD that I purchased at Convention. The very first technique was the Mosaic technique. I loved it! I had to try it right away! I ran a piece of cardstock through my Xyron sticker maker. I then proceeded to put cut pieces of Dashing DSP (retired) all over the sticky stuff. It was so fun! When I had most of the sticker paper covered with DSP I sprinkled Gold EP over the entire piece. The powder will stick to the exposed sticker paper. I embossed with my heat tool and layered the mosaic piece on a piece of Real Red cardstock. I used Old Olive cardstock for my card base. The sentiment from Heard from the Heart is stamped on the card base with Versamark and embossed with Gold EP. I love the way this card turned out. I will be using it as one of my Christmas card designs this year.

Fancy Flowers Birthday

This is a simple birthday card I made for my children's great-grandmother. We attended her birthday party last night. She has 9 children and lots of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The place was packed! :)

I used Flower Fancy for the image and One of a Kind for the sentiment. I also used Punches Three for the sentiment's frame. I just colored the frame with my marker and omitted the baby sentiment in the middle. I used the Wide Oval punch on the sentiment and the Scalloped Edge punch on the corners. Some Whisper White taffeta finishes the card.

Sweet Treats Wrapper

Happy Friday! I thought today's Demo Challenge was a great one...especially since the holidays are right around the corner! Today's challenge was to make a treat wrapper. Diana Gibb's has a great tutorial on her blog. She covered a Kit Kat bar with hers. I didn't have any Kit Kats hanging around, so I used what I did have...Hershey's Miniatures. I used 4 of them. They worked just fine. I'm going to hate ripping open my cute little wrapper, but I just cannot let those poor candies stay in the dark for too long. LOL

I know Halloween is the closest holiday, but I don't have any Halloween paper that isn't retired...yet, so I went with a Christmas wrapper. I used a piece of Real Red Patterns (Hostess Level 1) for the actual wrapper. My belly bands are Whisper White and Garden Green. I stamped the little gingerbread man from Deer Friends (Hostess Level 2), which I won in the SCS "Load the Gallery with SUO" contest (WooHoo!), on a piece of Whisper White in Creamy Caramel and Garden Green. I punched him out with a 1 1/4" circle punch, layered that on a piece of Real Red punched with a 1 3/8" circle punch, and layered that on a Whisper White Scalloped Circle punch. I used my Garden Green marker to make the dots. That's it. It was so easy! I can't wait to make these for holiday treats!

Diva Inspiration Challenge 8

As soon as I saw this week's pic, I thought of Crazy for Cupcakes. I wonder how many others did the same thing? :) I used Very Vanilla for the card base. The next layer is actually 2 pieces...one is Ruby Red run through the crimper, flattened then striped with the Versamarker and embossed with Clear EP, and the second is Kraft scalloped on the bottom with the Scalloped Edge punch and stamped with Classic Stripes in Ruby Red. The 2 pieces are separated by a piece of Very Vanilla taffeta. The image is stamped on Very Vanilla with Stazon and colored with reinkers and a blender pen. There are Dazzling Diamonds on the frosting and Crystal Effects on the cherries. I spruced up the corners with the Scalloped Edge punch. The sentiment is stamped at the top using the Stamp-a-ma-jig to get it all on one line. Love that thing!

Halloween Treat Cards

I decided I would get a head start on the Halloween treat bag cards for my daughter's class. I have 2 done so far. LOL I made them super simple because I know that they will end up in the trash. *gasp* I'm going to fill SU!'s medium cello bags with candy and tie them up with a tie-down. I'll attach the 3X3 card by punching a hole in the corner of it and threading it onto the tie-down. I just can't bring myself to use my yummy ribbon when I know it's just going in the garbage. Hmmm...I may get some orange and black curling ribbon instead of tie-downs. That would be a bit cuter...just in case the bags make it all the way home. ;) I will be using all the images in the Batty for You stamp set along with my retired Pumpkin Pie Prints DSP.

Say It With Scallops Sketch

This is Beate's weekend sketch challenge from Friday. At least I'm getting it done before the next one is posted. ;)

I love the RMHC set, Say It with Scallops. The fact that it has a matching punch just makes it so much better! I decided to break open my Patterns Pack (Hostess Level 1) and actually use some of that yummy paper. I chose More Mustard since it's the first color in the pack. LOL The card is pretty straight-forward, so I'll just list the recipe.

Christmas in September

Isn't that an original title? LOL

I started this card with an ATC I made a couple months ago. It's actually the first ATC I ever made. I really like the size. It was perfect to add to a regular-sized card. The ATC is made from Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White and Bella Rose DSP. I used the Scalloped Edge punch on 2 layers. I added the ATC to a piece of Kiwi Kiss. I stamped the Kiwi Kiss with the Classic Stripes (LOVE this new background!) stamp in Versamark twice to make it look plaid, and then I embossed it with Clear EP. I am really happy with how it turned out. One down, 99 Christmas cards to go. LOL

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Mine seemed to fly by with hardly any time to relax. Could be those 5 hours I spent cleaning out my closet yesterday. It is now a walk-in again! ;)

Another WICKED demo challenge

Happy Saturday! I am getting my stamping fix early today. I have the yucky chore of cleaning to do today. My wonderful walk-in closet cannot be walked in anymore. LOL It has turned in to a storage closet over the years. Today is the day to return it to its former glory. I have no idea how long that may take, so I figured I'd stamp first. ;)

Today's card is doing double-duty. First, it's my card for the technique part of this month's WICKED demo challenge. I have wanted to try this card since I saw it at Convention, and the challenge was just the push I needed. Secondly, it's a birthday card for my nephew. He will be 6 later this month.

I inked up the Party Hearty set for the first time. I used lots of Bold Brights since it's for a little boy. I also inked up the Classic Stripes background stamp in Versamark for a subtle background. I used the word window punch and the wide oval punch for the sentiment. On the inside, I used the 1 3/4" circle punch for the spirals, and the 3/4" circle punch for the presents.

I had such fun creating this card. If only I could have as much fun cleaning my closet. I'm going to think positively about it...if I finish quick enough, there will be more time to stamp today! ;)

Sweet Monochromatic Dreams

Happy almost Friday! ;) I am so ready for the weekend! This week at work has been crazy. I needed to relax tonight so I made a very simple card. It is monochromatic for CC182 on SCS. It was going to be for the sketch challenge, too, but I decided I didn't want to cover up that pretty Bella Rose DSP. I stamped the butterflies in Versamark and embossed with Clear EP. The bottom of the DSP is scalloped with the new SU! scalloped edge punch. I used the 1 3/8" square punch for the sentiment. I colored it very lightly with markers. I also made a faux bow from Pretty in Pink taffeta. I love faux bows!

UDI Inspiration Challenge 7

It's time again for the UDI Inspiration Challenge. I thought that the flowers on the dress looked like reverse spotlighting so that's the direction I went. I pulled So Saffron, Pretty in Pink, Close to Cocoa, Basic Black and Whisper White from the dress for my color palette. This was my first attempt at reverse spotlighting. I think it looks really neat. I used the SCS tutorial for instruction.
