Decor Elements frame

Hello! This is going to be a super-short post. My kiddos are waiting for me. They have the popcorn popped and the movie in the DVD player. How fun is that!!?

I don't have pictures from my workshop, but I do have this frame. ;)

I showed the ladies how to apply the Decor Element to the glass of the picture frame. The rub-on on the bottom of the frame is from SAB. The paper is Bella Rose DSP. The frame is from Target.

A "sweet" card

My daughter and I made cards together tonight. I love it when she stamps with me. (Although, she draws on her cards as much as she stamps.) :) She used Seriously Sassy and Boho Backgrounds. I asked her what stamp set to use for my card, and she picked Seriously Sassy. I ordered this for her with my SAB rewards earlier this year. I decided that I only wanted "Sweet" on the card so after I embossed the entire image with Silver EP, I colored over the bottom sentiment with my Versamarker and embossed that part again. I used Basic Gray and Pretty in Pink cardstock with Basic Gray taffeta ribbon. I just love the taffeta ribbon. It's so scrumptious! ;)

Tomorrow is my first workshop for the new catalog. (My friend Cindy will be attending, and her daughter will be joining her. The BFF card is for her. She and my daughter have been friends since they met in 1st grade 4 years ago.) If my ladies are alright with it, I'll take some pictures and post them tomorrow. I can't wait to tell them all about my trip to Convention and all the wonderful specials Stampin' Up! is offering. I am so excited!

Inspired faux dry embossing

Can you tell this is my favorite new set? I love it! This card serves 3 duties. It's for the color challenge found here, the technique challenge found here, and it is also a 'Thinking of you' card for my daughter's Assistant Principal. Her mother had a heart attack at the beginning of the week. She is recovering, but I still want to let Mrs. K know that she's in my thoughts.

It's almost Friday! WooHoo! I can't wait to see Beate's sketch challenge tomorrow. I will play when I get home from work. I also have to clean the house and get my supplies ready for my workshop this weekend, too. Beate's sketch challenge will be way more fun than cleaning! LOL

UDI Inspiration Challenge 6

It's time for another Diva Inspiration Challenge. I have to admit...I had no idea where to go with this week's picture until I saw today's Weekly Inkling tutorial for a free-standing pop-up card. Then the lightbulb went on! LOL (Sorry about the picture quality. I just could not get a good one!)

I used Close to Cocoa for my base stamped with the grass from Inspired by Nature in Versamark. I heat embossed the flowers from the same set in white EP on vellum cardstock. That was mounted on Whisper White with Soft Subtles brads. I tied some Pretty in Pink taffeta ribbon around the base. The sentiment is also from the same set. It's stamped in Pretty in Pink, and I used the Key Tag punch on it. There is another Soft Subtle brad in the "O". The sentiment is adhered with mini glue dots.

Workshop Sneak Peek 2

This is the 2nd card we'll be making on Sunday at my New Catalog workshop. It's a variation on the card shown during Spencer's Technology Tools class at Convention. I wanted to get the new Scalloped Edge punch in my customers' hands. I am sure they will love using it! I haven't done heat embossing in a workshop setting before, so I'm a bit nervous about it, but I'm sure it will all turn out just fine. Workshop Sneak Peek

This is one of the 2 cards we will be making at my New Catalog workshop on Sunday. I CASEd this card from a convention display board. I used the Hidden Garden bulk-buy rub-ons and the Bella Rose DSP. This card also uses the bulk-buy ribbon slides from way back when. I knew they would come in handy eventually. ;) I colored in the slide with my Ruby Red marker.

I'll post the other card tomorrow.

Carousel Notes sketch challenge

I used SCS's sketch challenge for this rather large thank you note. It's 6X6. I can fit quite a bit of thanks on the back of this, and it will still fit in the carousel note envelope. I think it's a great way to tell someone thank you in a big way. The stamp set and DSP is now retired along with the carousel note and ribbon, but Stampin' Up!'s new Idea Book is full of gorgeous new DSP and ribbons, and the carousel notes are available again, just in different colors. There are also lots of yummy new stamp sets to choose from if you don't have this one.

Birthday card bundle

I'm a brand-new me. LOL I dropped my demoship and signed under a new upline. Hi, Max! Convention was so inspiring that I came home ready to turn my hobby into a business. I've already spoken to my mom about signing up now that Stampin' Up! has entered the hispanic market, and today I took another step. Yay me! LOL

I was chatting with my daughter's teacher this morning, and she mentioned that she was in charge of the social dues again this year. She collects money from all the other teachers to use for birthdays, showers, etc.. I decided it was now or never and told her to let me know when she needed a card for anything, and I would make it for her. Guess what!? She ordered 4 cards on the spot! She wanted birthday cards for her fellow 5th grade teachers. WooHoo! I can't wait to give them to her tomorrow morning! I hope she loves them! I am hoping that this will be my way in with the teachers and staff! Cross your fingers for me!

Three of the four are variations on cards I have made previously. The 4th is a CASE of one I saw in Spencer's class on Technology Tools. (It's on page 34 or so of the Convention Resources file.) I am thinking that it would be terrific as a set in different colors with different sentiments. What do you think?

Diva Inspiration Challenge 5

I pulled the colors from the dress. I also thought of the flower petals in One of a Kind when I saw the shapes. I used a pop-up glue dot covered in Cosmo Fine Glitter for the center. It's so sparkly IRL.

2-4-6-8 Halloween Acetate

You have to read the title as if you're cheering! LOL Hey, if it's stuck in my head, it should be stuck in yours, too! ;)

The Technique Challenge over on SCS yesterday was a 2-4-6-8 acetate box. I had never done one before so I gave it a try. I did make the bottom piece a little larger. It's 3 inches wide instead of 2 1/2, and I scored at 1" instead of 1/2". After fighting with the acetate piece (I didn't score well enough the first time), I got it finished. I love the way it turned out...so cute! I can't wait to make these for my kids and all their teachers! I may be adventurous and make them for my co-workers, too. We'll see. LOL

We are in the clear!

WooHoo for us! Unfortunately, that puts others in the path of Fay. Fay made landfall this morning in Cape Romano, FL much further south than forecasted. Since she didn't stay in the water as long as anticipated, she did not strenghten to a hurricane. God is good! The kiddos don't have school today (the county has to decide these things in advance...better safe than sorry!), so they will be going to work today. Believe me, they would much rather be at school. LOL

I will be posting something fun later today after work. I don't know what yet, so stay tuned. ;)

I'll be praying for those of you who are now in Fay's path!

Go USA!

I have been glued to the television watching Michael Phelps at the Olympics. I made this card tonight after he won his record-breaking 8th gold medal.

The card is outlined with the Zig painty pen in gold. I cut strips of red for the stripes. The stars are made with the white gel pen. The letters are from the sheet we received in our make-n-take bag at Convention, On Board Loads of Letters. I colored them with white craft ink and covered them with Iridescent Ice. They are so sparkly IRL.

Leftovers!

Have I mentioned what an amazing time I had at Convention? LOL I was looking through all my goodies (again) today, and decided to use up some of the pieces I had in my bag from Make-n-Takes. This is what I created with my leftovers. :)

The chipboard is from the bulk-buy scalloped squares. Love these. I used the frame part for the ribbon bookmark I posted earlier here. I colored the leftover pieces with my Chocolate Chip marker. I adhered a rub-on from the Hidden Garden bulk buy package we received to a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock. We used it on the bookmark, too. (I tried to put it directly on the chipboard, but it wouldn't stick.) I then punched out the rub-on with my 1 3/8" square punch and adhered that to the chipboard square. I used a piece of wide Chocolate Chip grosgrain as a tab. The original piece is on a card I posted here. The Chocolate Chip polytwill was originally used on a card in that same post.

UDI Sketch Challenge

Here's my submission. I don't make square cards much, so this was a challenge for me. The card is 4 1/4 X 4 1/4". I used my Certainly Celery marker to color the flower. I used my coluzzle to cut out the large oval. There was too much white space for my liking, so I made some Certainly Celery dots.

Statement of the Heart

This is the new Statement of the Heart stamp which I purchased at Convention. I love it! The font is so much easier to read on this one. I paired it with the SCS sketch challenge from last week. I may save this card for my 1st recruit. I just need to find her. ;) I came home from Convention inspired and determined to turn my hobby into a business! Wish me luck! UDI Friendship Swap

I participated in an organized swap at Convention with my online group, UDI. We had a friendship theme and a purple/white color scheme. The card I made for the swap is pictured by itself. Inspired by the Fall-Winter 2008 Idea Book & Catalog

I have to say that I am so glad Stampin' Up! went back to calling the catalog the Idea Book & Catalog. It is full of ideas! Today's project was inspired by the sample on page 100.

I already had some frames from Wal-Mart. (I knew I would use them eventually. LOL) I stamped the image from Inspired by Nature in Versamark first and then stamped the image again in Old Olive ink on Old Olive DSP from Bali Breeze. I wanted it to look shadowed. I also stamped the sentiment the same way using Versamark and Stazon Black. I used the Key Tag punch for the sentiment layers. I just stuck my paper in one side at a time since I needed a longer tag. I had quite a time trying to get a good picture. It looks much better IRL.

Happy Sweet 16!

Today is Robert's niece's 16th birthday. I can't believe it. Robert and I started dating when she was just 8 months old. How did she grow up so fast? I guess the same way my kids did. LOL At least mine are not teenagers yet.

Anywho...this card is for her. I hope she likes it. It's made with the Polka Dot background and the new stamp set I received at Convention, Flight of the Butterfly. I took my inspiration from the dotted butterfly in the set. I just love Chocolate Chip and Pretty in Pink together, so I went with that color combo. The butterfly is stamped twice (O.K. 4 times...it's a 2-step stamp. LOL), and cut out once. I used my Versamarker on the top butterfly's spots and covered them with Iridescent Ice EP. It is so very sparkly IRL. :)

The last of the Make -n- Takes

I have been working on a Technique swap today for my online group, UDI. The first round was great. I can't wait to see the new ones. I can't show you what I did yet, but I will post it once I get them all back. I can tell you the technique I tried was Joseph's Coat. It was fun, and I think I like my page. LOL

I can show you the last 2 projects from Make -n- Take classes at Convention. Aren't they adorable? ;) That awesome flower started out life as a piece of ribbon! Who knew you could do that with ribbon? Not me! :)

I will be meeting a fellow UDI member in the morning. Jill was my Stampin' Sister this last round. Turns out her brother lives about 30 minutes away from me, and she is down from GA visiting him this weekend. She is an amazing, sweet person. I can't wait to meet her IRL tomorrow!
